Job Description

Sheridan Maine is partnering with a market-leading manufacturing business embarking on an exciting growth phase to recruit a Management Accountant for a 12-month fixed-term contract. This is a fantastic opportunity to play a pivotal role in supporting the Head of Finance across key reporting, planning, and cost analysis functions.
 
Hybrid working model (4 days office-based, 1 day WFH)
 
Key Responsibilities of the Management Accountant will include:
 
  • Assist in the preparation of monthly management accounts, including profit & loss, balance sheet, and cash flow statements.
  • Perform detailed variance analysis and provide insightful commentary on financial performance.
  • Support the development and maintenance of annual budgets and rolling forecasts.
  • Support cost accounting processes including overhead allocation, product costing, and margin analysis.
  • Monitor and report on actual vs budgeted costs for major capital projects
  • Partner with operational teams to drive cost control and efficiency initiatives.
  • Support the preparation of financial reports for senior management and external stakeholders.
  • Assist with year-end audit preparations and provide supporting schedules and analysis.
  • Develop financial models to support key decision-making.
  • Assist in cash flow forecasting and working capital monitoring.
 
Key Skills and Experience of the Management Accountant:
 
  • Qualified or part-qualified Accountant (CIMA / ACCA) or QBE with relevant experience.
  • Ideally proven experience in management accounting within a manufacturing, engineering, or industrial environment.
  • Strong knowledge of cost accounting, budgeting, and project reporting.
  • Highly proficient in Excel and comfortable working with large data sets and ERP systems.
  • Strong analytical and communication skills with the ability to explain financial information to non-financial stakeholders.
  • A proactive, hands-on approach and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
