Sheridan Maine is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Audit Assistant Manager to support the planning, execution, and delivery of audits for a broad range of clients. This role is ideal for someone who is ACA or ACCA qualified (or nearing completion) and looking to take the next step in their audit career.
 
You will play a key role in managing audit assignments, supervising junior staff, liaising with clients, and supporting senior managers and partners. The role offers excellent opportunities for career development within a supportive and growing practice.
 
Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead audit engagements from planning through to completion for a range of clients across sectors.
  • Manage audit teams on-site and remotely, reviewing work and providing coaching to junior staff.
  • Perform technical reviews of audit files and financial statements in compliance with UK auditing standards and accounting frameworks.
  • Identify and resolve audit issues proactively and escalate complex matters to senior management.
  • Liaise with clients to gather information, deliver audit updates, and build professional relationships.
  • Monitor budgets, timelines, and billing to ensure efficient project delivery.
  • Support senior managers and partners with audit quality, training, and team development initiatives.
  • Stay up to date with technical and regulatory developments in audit and financial reporting.
 
Requirements:
  • ACA or ACCA qualified (or finalist with strong experience).
  • 3+ years of audit experience within a UK accountancy practice.
  • Solid understanding auditing standards.
  • Experience in managing or supervising junior staff.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organisational skills and ability to meet deadlines.
  • Competent in using audit software.
