The Company
Sheridan Maine is partnering with a central London not-for-profit organisation to recruit a Finance Director. This is a key leadership role offering the opportunity to shape and drive the organisation’s financial strategy while embedding a culture of financial responsibility across the business. The role is hybrid, with office-based work as required.

The Role
The Finance Director will lead the finance function, providing strategic financial insight, ensuring robust governance and compliance, and supporting the executive team and boards with clear, timely financial information. You will oversee statutory and management reporting, budgeting and forecasting, risk management, and operational finance, while leading, developing, and motivating the finance team.

Your Key Responsibilities as the Finance Director:
  • Lead all aspects of the finance function, ensuring accurate reporting, compliance, and commercial support.
  • Provide strategic financial advice and insights to senior management and the board.
  • Oversee budgeting, forecasting, and performance monitoring.
  • Ensure strong governance, risk management, and internal controls.
  • Manage relationships with auditors, banks, and key stakeholders.
  • Lead and develop a high-performing finance team, promoting professional excellence and continuous improvement.
  • Support organisational decision-making with clear, transparent financial reporting.
To be considered for this Finance Director position, you will:
  • Be a qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or equivalent) with minimum 5 years PQE.
  • Experience in a senior finance role within an SME or group environment.
  • Proven leadership skills with the ability to manage and develop a team.
  • Strong strategic thinking, commercial awareness, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Comfortable working in a hybrid environment and leading change.
