Sheridan Maine is seeking an experienced and reliable Payroll Manager to take ownership of end-to-end payroll function at a well-established business in Hertfordshire. This is a great opportunity for someone with a strong understanding of payroll legislation who enjoys leading a process-driven and accurate payroll service.

You will be responsible for managing payroll operations, ensuring compliance with HMRC regulations, and delivering timely and accurate pay to employees.

Key responsibilities:
  • Manage and process end-to-end payroll for weekly and monthly pay cycles.
  • Ensure accurate calculation of pay, pensions, statutory deductions, and benefits.
  • Maintain payroll records and ensure compliance with all HMRC requirements.
  • Handle payroll queries and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner.
  • Oversee year-end processes including P60s and P11Ds.
  • Keep up to date with changes in payroll legislation and systems.
  • Collaborate with HR and Finance teams on payroll-related matters.

What we’re looking for:
  • Proven experience in a standalone or managerial payroll role.
  • Strong knowledge of UK payroll legislation and best practices.
  • Experience with payroll software such as Sage Payroll, ADP, or similar.
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage deadlines and work independently.
