Sheridan Maine is delighted to be working with a growing and ambitious accountancy practice based in North Hertfordshire to recruit an experienced and driven Accounts Manager.

This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified accountant with strong practice experience to take a leading role within a forward-thinking firm that values both its clients and its people. You will oversee a client portfolio, manage a small team, and support the partners in delivering a high-quality service across accounts, tax, and business advisory.

Responsibilities of the Accounts Manager include:
  • Manage a portfolio of clients, acting as their primary point of contact.
  • Prepare and review statutory accounts in compliance with UK GAAP and FRS 102.
  • Oversee corporation tax returns and VAT compliance.
  • Support and develop junior team members through coaching and mentoring.
  • Review and improve internal processes and workflow efficiency.
  • Assist partners with business advisory services and client development.
  • Ensure deadlines and regulatory requirements are met across the team.
The successful Accounts Manager:
  • ACA/ACCA qualified (or qualified by experience).
  • Proven experience in an accountancy practice environment.
  • Excellent technical knowledge of accounting and tax compliance.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills.
  • Proficient with accounting software such as Xero, QuickBooks, and Iris.
  • Ability to manage workloads effectively and build strong client relationships.
