Sheridan Maine is working with a well-established, medium-sized accountancy practice to recruit an experienced Audit & Accounts Senior to join their busy Audit Department. This is an exciting opportunity to work with a diverse client base across multiple sectors, including owner-managed businesses, charities, professional services, and larger corporates.

Key responsibilities of the Audit & Accounts Senior will include:
  • Conduct audits of client accounts both on-site and at firm offices.
  • Prepare financial statements in line with FRS 102, IFRS, and Charity SORP.
  • Prepare accounts for non-audit clients, including limited companies, LLPs, and charities.
  • Prepare corporation tax computations based on finalised accounts.
  • Supervise and mentor junior staff, providing guidance and constructive feedback.
  • Identify improvements to client accounting systems and controls.
  • Reconcile control accounts and advise on necessary adjustments.
  • Monitor audit and accounts progress against budgets and timelines.
  • Undertake additional tasks to support the smooth operation of the Audit and Accounts Department.
Skills and experience required to succeed as an Audit & Accounts Senior:
  • Significant experience in a senior audit and accounts role with ACA qualification (or equivalent).
  • Strong knowledge of auditing standards, accounting principles, and financial reporting.
  • Self-motivated with excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build relationships across clients and teams.
  • Experience supervising and mentoring junior staff.
  • Competent IT user, adaptable to client systems and technology.

Desirable:
  • Experience with audit software such as CCH Audit Automation and Accounts Production.
