Our esteemed client, a prominent organisation based in Cardiff, is seeking a dynamic and experienced Senior Financial Controller to join their team. In the capacity of Senior Financial Controller, you will undertake a pivotal role, assuming overall responsibility for risk management, control, reporting, and central finance business partnership within the organisation.
Your key responsibilities as Senior Financial Controller will include:
Overall accountability for risk, control, reporting, and central finance business partnering
Lead and develop finance team whilst managing stakeholders across the business
Overall accountability for ensuring that the financial processes, systems, and controls are operating effectively
Ensuring the accurate and timely provision of all group Company financial accounts, statutory returns monthly accounts, budgets, tax computation and audits are carried out
Ensure the Finance function is working to support business units to manage their budgets and targets, deliver their business plans and to optimise financial performance, profitability, and compliance
Ensuring that strategic and operational business risks are identified and assessed and working with the business to ensure appropriate mitigation plans are developed
Stress and scenario testing to support the Consumer group of businesses which will include scenario identification, stakeholder workshops, presentation at governance committees and compiling reports and improvement actions
Stress testing to support various regulatory requirements
Lead all financial and capital planning, ensure that the company has access to the working capital that it needs to run an effective business
Oversee the regular review of financial performance on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis, ensuring effective financial reporting, management information and analysis
Understand and develop the business's strategic objectives, including those specific to Finance, and put in place structured plans to align resource to delivering these, identifying and addressing any gaps
Understand priorities for the business value streams and other central functions to work with key stakeholders to support them with insightful data/reporting and efficient transactional processes
Act as a key business partner across the Senior Management Team
To be considered for the role of Senior Financial Controller, you will require:
Educated to Degree level with an associated professional qualification as appropriate (ACA/ACCA) is essential
Proven experience in a senior finance leadership role within a corporate setting
Strong understanding of risk management, compliance, and consumer fraud prevention
Broad technical knowledge, encompassing matters related to business conduct, corporate governance, and the complexities of regulatory risk and regulatory change
Knowledge of core IT systems, including Microsoft Outlook. Experience in Microsoft AX is desirable
Technically fluent, familiar with UK GAAP, IAS and IFRS is desirable
