We're excited to announce a fantastic opportunity for a Finance Assistant to become a valuable member of our client's Wareham-based team. This offers an ideal chance for individuals who are ILFM/AAT qualified or currently pursuing ILFM/AAT certification, aiming to launch their finance career.
 
The chosen candidate will support the Finance Assistant in the daily operations of the finance department while collaborating closely with a group of legal cashiers.
 
Responsibilities of the Finance Assistant include but not limited to:
 

  • Administer online banking and transactions
  • Manage overseas currency transactions
  • Post daily financial transactions, including bank receipts, checks, CHAPS, faster payments, and more, using SOS Practice Management accounting system
  • Oversee conveyancing-related payments, counsel fees, and supplier invoices
  • Reconcile credit card statements monthly
  • Assist with month-end reconciliations and financial closing tasks
  • Perform daily bank reconciliations and housekeeping tasks
  • Maintain organised finance paperwork and record all transactions accurately and promptly
  • Process expense claims and bills
  • Calculate client interest and reconcile bank, petty cash, and general ledgers
  • Ensure compliance with best practices and SRA requirements
  • Foster positive relationships with clients, colleagues, and third parties
  • Uphold the firm's reputation and address inquiries and issues
  • Participate in directed training and adhere to firm policies and procedures
 
The successful Finance Assistant will require the following skills and experience:
 
  • Preferably ILFM/AAT qualified or actively pursuing
  • Strong in SAR's (ideal but not essential)
  • Excellent numeracy, organisation, and time management
  • Deadline-driven
  • Competent with requisite experience
  • Appropriate computer skills
  • Team player with prioritisation skills
  • Effective communication and adaptability
  • High discretion and confidentiality

This position necessitates an in-office presence from Monday to Friday, adhering to a 9-5 schedule.
