Our Winchester-based client is actively in search of a Billing Specialist to join their team, on an interim basis. This offers an excellent chance for individuals with a solid foundation in construction and/or professional services who are eager to advance in their careers in an organisation which offers flexible working.
 
The successful candidate will become a valued member of the Finance Team, with primary responsibilities including ensuring the precise and punctual generation of invoices and accompanying letters, as well as the comprehensive upkeep of financial records within our project database. Additionally, they will play a vital role in generating accounting and management reports to facilitate the oversight of the company's performance.

Responsibilities of the Billing Specialist will include, but will not be limited to:
 
Monthly billing

  • Managing monthly billing, quality assurance, and control
  • Issuing fee forecasts to project leaders, validating accounts, and resolving invoice errors
  • Monitoring invoices and drafting final versions
 
Fee & billing management
  • Gathering fee-related information, securing contracts, and notifying staff about new projects
  • Ensuring compliance with project contracts and tax regulations
  • Updating Timemaster with changes from fee meetings
 
Project accounting & financial data management
  • Assisting project leaders with budget monitoring and project profitability
  • Collaborating with Project Managers on aged Work in Progress (WIP)
 
Project database management
  • Keeping the project database updated
  • Providing ongoing training to project leaders and conducting compliance checks
  • Maintaining resource costs and charge-out rates
 
Ad hoc tasks
  • Generating management reports and time-related reports
  • Handling fee-related inquiries
  • Assisting with staff absence records and educating staff on timesheet-income correlation
 
The successful Billing Specialist will require the following skills and experience:
 
Qualifications
  • Minimum 2 years in a similar role, especially in professional services
  • Relevant qualifications demonstrating financial or project accounting knowledge
 
Financial skills
  • Billing expertise and experience
  • Proficiency with project management software
  • Knowledge of VAT and tax matters
  • Strong Excel skills and familiarity with MS Office, especially Word
