We have a fantastic opening in Central Bristol for a Payroll Specialist to join our client’s team permanently. The successful candidate will be tasked with managing monthly payroll variable data submissions and reporting, as well as delivering pensions administrative and governance support. This is a great opportunity for a finance professional with a payroll administration qualification or at least two years of payroll experience.

Responsibilities of the Payroll Specialist will include, but will not be limited to:
Operational and Maintenance:

  • Review payroll data for new starters, changes, and leavers
  • Calculate payroll inputs for variable pay based on HR guidance
  • Manage deductions, upload payroll data, and coordinate monthly pension submissions
  • Act as the main contact for GPPP and payroll providers
  • Maintain pensions database and file storage
  • Handle general payroll and pension administration
 
Reporting and Compliance:
  • Prepare monthly reports for starters, leavers, and YTD changes
  • Manage data exceptions with HR and ensure accurate master data
  • Run payroll reports and oversee changes and compliance tasks
  • Handle pension contribution changes, salary sacrifices, and auto-enrolment
  • Collaborate on P11D and PSA submissions
 
Continuous Improvement:
  • Work with payroll and pension teams for process improvements
  • Communicate legislative updates to HR
  • Support pension change projects
 
The successful Payroll Specialist will require the following skills and experience:
  • Qualified payroll administrator or equivalent, with at least two years of payroll experience, preferably within an international Shared Service Centre
  • Knowledge of pensions is a plus
  • Strong attention to detail, highly organised, and results-driven, with the ability to meet deadlines, analyse, reconcile, and report on data
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, with advanced Excel skills and familiarity with various payroll applications, including Time and Attendance software
